The managers of the BSU project at Gulu University will next week join their counterparts from other African and Danish universities for the closing seminar of the BSU3 programme.

The event, organised by the Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC), and funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be held from October 30 to November 1, 2023, at the MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS-TCDC), Usa River, Tanzania.

The seminar will discuss the outcomes and results of BSU3 as well as explore potential future benefits from BSU experiences.

Through the BSU programme, Danida has, since 2010, been supporting six African universities to develop their capacities in administration, and in research and outreach both at individual and institutional levels. This has mainly been through collaboration between African and Danish universities.

The six African universities include Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Legon University, Tanzania’s Sokoine University of Agriculture, the State University of Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro Medical University College (in Moshi),  and Uganda’s Gulu University. The Danish Universities are the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, the University of Southern Denmark, Roskilde University and Aalborg University.

BSU3 at Gulu started in 2016 and the official closing ceremony was held in November 2022 at Gulu University.

DFC has published an article and videos detailing the transformative impact of BSU on Gulu University and the wider northern Uganda community. In a separate article - What makes BSU at Gulu Tick? - Dr. Agatha Alidri, the BSU Coordinator at Gulu, reveals how she was able to steer BSU for the programme to make such a big impact.
